Most quote requests we get start with "just the outside" or "just the front windows." Fair enough. But once we're on a ladder or running pole work along a two-storey elevation, it usually makes sense to talk through what a full visit actually covers, because the four pieces work together and the price changes depending on which ones you pick.
Exterior Window Cleaning
We run water-fed poles at around 60 PSI with deionized water pulled through a resin tank until it reads close to 0 ppm TDS on the meter. Water that pure dries clear on its own, no squeegee pass, no mineral spotting left behind. That matters most on La Jolla and Del Mar homes facing the ocean, where salt film builds fast, and it also handles the hard-water overspray that collects on inland glass in Poway and Scripps Ranch. On its own, exterior-only runs about $0.08 to $0.12 per square foot of glass, which lands around $95 to $140 for an average 1,800-square-foot San Diego home.
Interior Window Cleaning
Interior glass gets hand washed. Frames and sills are detailed with microfiber rather than a wet rag, because a wet rag just pushes grit around the track instead of lifting it out. We quoted a Rancho Santa Fe home last month with a two-storey stairwell window near 12 feet up, and the interior side alone added an extra $60 to the job because of the ladder and harness setup. On homes with large fixed picture windows, which show up often in that neighborhood, interior access has to be scheduled around the homeowner, since those panes aren't reachable from outside.
Window Track Detailing
Tracks collect the grit that eventually scratches the glass above it. That's the reason we sell track detailing as its own line item, usually $8 to $12 per track, instead of folding it into a standard wash. On a job in 4S Ranch two weeks ago, one lower-level track alone took close to fifteen minutes to clear because a prior tenant's dog had scratched grooves into the runner and packed them with dirt. A track full of sand and dead leaf debris takes real time to clear out by hand, and skipping it just moves the problem to the next visit.
Window Screen Cleaning

Does the Neighborhood Change What's Needed?
Yes, and it changes the interval more than the service list. Coastal glass in La Jolla, Del Mar, Pacific Beach, and Point Loma films over faster because of salt spray, so those homes tend to need a shorter cleaning interval, often every eight weeks instead of twelve. Inland communities like Poway, Scripps Ranch, 4S Ranch, and Rancho Peñasquitos deal with dust and sprinkler overspray instead, which shows up as mineral spotting low on the pane rather than a hazy film across the whole window, and matters even more once temperatures sit in the mid-80s through September and sprinklers run daily.
