Why do Carmel Valley window screens get so dusty?
Carmel Valley screens collect dust, pollen, and sprinkler overspray residue. The first wind after a glass cleaning blows that layer onto the fresh pane. We clean screens with a screen machine and bristle brushes, then hand-detail each frame, in the same visit as the glass.
Screens are the part of a window nobody looks at until the glass is clean. Then they are the first thing you notice.
What happens when only the glass gets cleaned?
We see it on jobs near Carmel Valley Road. The glass is spotless when we pack up. A few days later the owner mentions a haze on the inside of the pane.
That haze is the screen. A screen holds a layer of dust, and the first good breeze moves part of it onto the glass. Cleaning the screen is what keeps the pane clean longer.
It is also why we would rather do screens and glass together than one without the other.
How do we clean the screens?
Every screen comes off the window. It goes through our screen cleaning machine, and then we work it over with bristle brushes. The frame gets detailed by hand afterward, because the machine does not reach the corners where grit packs in.
Here is the order we follow on a typical visit:
- Remove each screen and note which window it belongs to.
- Run it through the screen machine.
- Go over the mesh with bristle brushes.
- Detail the frame by hand, corner to corner.
- Clean the glass and refit the screen.
Screens go back where they came from. Nothing gets mixed up between a bedroom window and the slider downstairs.
Do we repair or replace screens?
No. We clean them. If a screen has a torn mesh or a bent frame, we will tell you at the quote so you can have it handled by someone who does repairs.
That is a deliberate line. We would rather say what we do not do than be vague about it.
What does a screen look like after cleaning?
Mesh that looked grey from across the room turns back to its real colour. Light comes through the window more evenly. Frames that looked grimy at the corners look finished.

Carmel Valley has a lot of newer homes with modern vinyl frames, and those clean up well. West-facing glass shows every bit of leftover film once the afternoon sun hits it, so we check each pane from inside and out before calling it done.
Can screens and glass be done in one visit?
Yes, and that is how we prefer it. Matthew and Tanner do the work themselves, so the people who quote the job are the people who clean your screens. We cover window screen cleaning as its own service, and you can see how we handle the rest on our Carmel Valley page.
If we cleaned your screens in Carmel Valley, a Google review that mentions the screens and your neighbourhood helps the next homeowner find us.
